Cube Drawings

So after we wrapped up everything with our cube and straws project we were then told to draft them, including two elevations, a plan, a 3-D rendering and lastly a detailed drawing on a particular joint. And this is what I got and I do apologize but pencil draftings are quite difficult to photograph. I might eventually try to scan it in, when there's time of course.

Cubing It Up & Keeping It Real

Alright, so last weeks assignment and this weeks as well was to design a 4x4x4" cube constructed on bristol board that was elevated 4 inches off a 8x8" base using straws to elevate it off the base. My initial concept very clear, but very repetitive because which I wanted throughout because of my box, it only seemed right. So here was my original concept.

After I got some feedback, I had mentioned I thought about working with clear straws and a clear plastic as my base and that's what I went over with and it went over pretty well and created some really nice reflections as well.

Lettering (Refined)

So this is the lettering from a previous post but is now refined and better overall, and so was my grade.

Drawing Ta Foust

So Thursday, we got our new sketchbook assignment which was to go outside and draw the Foust building which is the oldest building on campus. We had about an hour and a half maybe before class was over and luckily I had my camera on me so decided to take some photo's to upload in hope of not having to go back outside and draw it. Here's the photo's I took which I actually liked.

Alright, so here was the final product and sorry I tried to darken up my lines because the pencil wasn't so dark when I scanned in my image.

Rolling The Dice

The end of another week! Well today we wrapped up our last studio project which was all about INTERSECTIONS and for the assignment we had a create a container for a special object. And 3 materials we had to incorporate within were paper, fabric and thread and the rest was pretty open, it was just up to you. Okay so originally when we received our like statement, the first thing that popped into my head was cubes stacked almost sporadically everywhere and have my object within one of the cubes. This was my first attempt at my model.

But I was having trouble with my box that was actually containing something because I didn't feel like I was too considerate of the object and felt like their space needed to be more cleaver and purposeful so Rachel gave me some feedback and said perhaps work with compartmentalizing the cube and defining its area more so, and here was my final model.

Fit Into The Perfect Space

Thursday, we began drafting with Vanessa and I haven't drafted since high school which has been like 3 years now I think since I last did drafting. But we were to practice lettering and then use guide lines to letter on a standard 8.5x11 sheet of paper. We had to do the entire alphabet and numbers 0-9, lastly we were to copy a quote on our handout using what lettering we practiced.

Blindsided

So sometime last week, we received our first weeks sketchbook entry that was due every Monday on the blog by 9AM so this is what I'm doing. Anyways, this weeks assignment was to find 5 objects that we saw something in and draw them normal and then draw them by NOT looking at our paper (AKA contour) and this was the end result for me.
